A Fall Bucket List for Your Family

Fall has always been one of my favorite times of year for many different reasons. It means there are three of my favorite holidays right around the corner which is always fun to anticipate and plan for with my kids. Even though I love summer, I look forward to switching out my flip flops and shorts for booties, jeans and hoodies. And, what’s not to love about the outdoor scenery? The leaves are so beautiful and the crispness in the air has always been refreshing to me. I always try to come up with different and fun activities for my kids throughout the year to coordinate with each season. I’ve put together a list of some of my favorite things to do in the fall with my family. The best part is everything we enjoy doing is either free or very budget friendly. I hope you can find some inspiration with these ideas and create lasting memories with your loved ones this season!

Go on a Nature Scavenger Hunt

Pinterest is loaded with awesome lists and ideas on putting together a fun scavenger hunt for the kids. You can print out lists they provide or make your own. Check out my Pinterest page to see some of our favorite scavenger hunt lists!

Kylee’s Korner Pinterest

Make Leaf Rub Drawings

Use the leaves from your scavenger hunt to make artwork! You can use what you probably already have at home- crayons, colored pencils or wax paper. My kids love to use tracing paper that I buy on Amazon. You can find it here:

Tracing Paper

Head to the Local Farmer’s Market

Check to see if there’s a farmer’s market in your area. It’s a good way to get the kids out of the house and to limit their screen time for the morning. It is also an awesome way to get them to try new fruits and veggies that may be in season!

Go to the Public Library

The local library is a great place to go spend an afternoon, especially on a chilly or rainy day. Every library is different, but ours has story time, cooking classes, puppet shows and so much more. My kids always enjoy getting to pick out a few books to take home at the end of our trip.

Build a Blanket Fort and Have Reading Time

After you get back from the library with your new books, build a blanket fort in the family room and have some quiet time. My kids love going into the fort to read and it gives me a chance to get some things done around the house. I don’t know what it is about blanket forts, but they seem to work like magic in our home!

Make Smores

It doesn’t feel fall official to me unless we make smores at least once! Of course, I prefer to make them around a campfire, but sometimes inside must do. There are so many tools you can get that help the smores making easier and less messy. Here are some of my favorites that we have used outside and inside:

Roasting Sticks

Smores Maker

Nostalgia Smores

Go Apple Picking

Apple picking is one of my favorite things to do with the kiddos in the fall on a beautiful day. It gets us outside and moving around which I love. The kids have a lot of fun walking around and looking for the perfect apple to add to our basket!

Bake Something with Your Apples

While we are at the orchard picking apples, we love to talk about all the different things we can make with them once we get home. There are so many yummy possibilities. I’ve saved some of our favorite go to recipes with apples on my Pinterest page here:

Apple Recipes

Make a Pinecone Bird Feeder

My kids love making pinecone bird feeders for all of our feathery outdoor friends. They are so simple to make and the birds really seem to love the yummy treat! All you need is peanut butter, birdseed, pinecones and twine! Since I order everything off Amazon because I love their prices and the convenience of online shopping, I get most of the supplies through them. You can find some of them here:

Natural Jute Twine

Bird Seed

Go to A Local Football Game

Is it just me or does football seem to go hand in hand with fall? NFL games can get costly for a family to attend. However, you can go to a local high school game for much less money! Most of the time you can bring in snacks or purchase them for a low cost at the snack stand. My kids love to cheer on the local team and sit with all the other fans in the bleachers. It’s a lot of fun for us to show our hometown pride!

Make a Hot Chocolate Bar and Have Movie Night

Fall nights start to get chilly! One of our favorite things to do on a weekend is make a hot chocolate bar and have a movie night. The kids get so excited picking out the different ingredients they want for their hot chocolate. Pinterest comes to the win again with some awesome ideas and tips. Here are some of our favorite go to ideas:

Hot Chocolate Bar

Make Personalized Thanksgiving Placemats

My kids are always down for a fun arts and crafts project. They also love to have their completed artwork proudly displayed when they are done. One of our new favorite things to do is making personalized placemats for all our family to use at Thanksgiving dinner. The kids love to see everyone using them and the guests are always excited to see what they made for them. I’ve ordered these placemats in the past and have loved them. They are durable, pretty and easy to color on!

8 Lip Shades That Are Killer for Fall/Winter

Fall is a welcome time of year, with crisp, cool weather that begs for long sleeves and warm colors. Speaking of warm colors, fall and winter is a great time to go bold with those lips! Here are my tried and true lip shades for this time of year—these are my favorites that I have personally used and fell in love with!

My 8 Favorite Lip Shades That Are Killer for Fall/Winter

Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Lolita and Double Dare

I don’t recommend using a liquid lipstick every day because it dries out the lips, but these two colors are absolutely beautiful. Any hair color or skin tone can wear both of these shades and look fantastic. You’ll love how smooth the Kat Von D liquid lipstick goes on. Double Dare has a nice brick color while Lolita has a darker, more pretty brown tone. I combine them together for the most stunning lips.

I can’t tell you how many comments I got from women asking what lipstick I was wearing.

See I how combine these two shades for the final look in this video.

Sephora Lip Stain in Marvelous Mauve

Moving out of the browns and to the more purple colors, this is one of my go-to colors all fall and winter long. This lip stain by Sephora is a lovely matte with a deep, warm mauve. Be aware that it does go on neutral but dries darker. It’s another liquid lip stain so you don’t need to touch it up during the day; just put it on and go.

Marc Jacobs Le Marc Liquid Lip Crayon in Plum n’ Get It

This next one is a lip crayon, which is very hydrating and fun to use. It’s a very deep and pretty plum color that is absolutely gorgeous. It’s a good color for date night or a bold look. If you’re looking for a rich, wine color, this is it!

Mac Lipstick Shine in New York Apple

This lovely lipstick is in the red family. It has a sheen to it that catches the light and gives you this cool ombre effect. This is a pretty color that you can wear with minimal makeup, have your hair back in a bun, and have a gorgeous put-together look with minimal effort.

Winky Lux in Meow

For another nourishing lipstick that is perfect for fall and winter, enter the Winky Lux in Meow shade. This is a beautiful neutral beige color that I love using because it is so comfortable. There are a lot of lipsticks that claim to be comfortable that aren’t, but this one really is.

Ilia in Arabian Knights

Okay, don’t be scared by this one. I know it looks super dark, but really this Ilia lipstick in Arabian Knights is one of my go-to shades year-round. It is stunning. I like to gently pat it on my lips to give just a subtle rosy glow. You can also layer it up for a deeper, more velvet effect. The reason I love this lipstick so much is that it stays all day long and acts sort of like a stain, giving your lips lasting natural color.

Mac Lipstick in Creme Cup

Last but not least is another of my year-round favorites that works well for fall/winter because it is so light and pretty. This is a neutral pink that goes with literally anything. If I could only have one lipstick all year long, it would be this one. This is a great lipstick for people who don’t like to wear lipstick. It’s beautiful and universal and so great to keep in your purse for any occasion.

Oh, I love the smell of summer and FREE full-size products from my FAVORITE cleaning brand!

By now, summer is in full swing. I’ve fallen into a slow, easy routine since our calendar is a little emptier and we don’t have to rush out the door in the morning.

But as much as I’m enjoying these slower days, I sometimes feel like my routine needs a little shake-up.

It’s amazing how one small tweak, like changing up your usual household scents, can energize your entire day.

Mix & Match Mrs. Meyer’s Scents with Grove Collaborative

Now is a great opportunity to try a different scent (or three!) because my friends at Grove Collaborative are giving away this FREE set with your first order of $20:

  • Free Mrs. Meyer’s hand soap
  • Free Mrs. Meyer’s hand lotion
  • Free Mrs. Meyer’s dish soap
  • Grove Collaborative cleaning caddy
  • Free shipping & 60 day VIP trial

I started using Mrs. Meyer’s products a few years ago and have been hooked ever since. They’re made with plant-derived ingredients and essential oils, in scents inspired by a backyard garden.

The three Mrs. Meyer’s products all come in lavender, honeysuckle, lemon verbena, geranium and basil. When you grab your free set from Grove, you can mix and match to create your own custom combination!

Why stick to just one when there are so many fun ones to try?

I’ve tried them all, and I can confidently say that they all smell fantastic and clean beautifully.

If you came to my house right now, you’d see that I have Mrs. Meyers soap and lotion next to every sink in my house. Right now, I have the basil scent in the kitchen, lemon verbena in the guest bath, and lavender in the mudroom. Whenever I use up a bottle, I switch to a new scent. It instantly changes the atmosphere of the room and makes it feel like a fresh space! Honeysuckle is up next and might be my current favorite!

I like to keep a few extra soaps and lotions on hand so I never run out. This gorgeous, multi-functional enamel caddy is perfect for corralling extra products until you’re ready to use them. (It’s also a stylish way to round up cleaning products, gardening tools, or the kids’ summer art supplies!)

Another way I make sure I never run out of my favorite products is by using Grove Collaborative. Grove delivers the best natural products right to my doorstep, on my schedule. They make creating a healthy, beautiful home effortless and affordable. I’ve also discovered some of my favorite cleaning products through Grove.
