Stocking Stuffers Under $10 For The Kids

With Christmas less then three weeks away, I have been busy shopping (mostly online when the kids are sleeping) and getting ready for the holiday. One thing I seem to forget to search for or have trouble finding is small stocking stuffers for every age that won’t break the bank! This year has definitely put a strain on finances for some and I have chatted with a lot of people that are trying to have a fun, but budget friendly Christmas. I have been doing some searching for fun stocking stuffers for kids and tweens, and have come up with some cute ideas. Best yet, everything I have listed is under $10! Check out all of the fun things I have listed below- hopefully some of them will work for the kiddo in your life! Happy shopping and happy holidays!

Reindeer Farts

I struggle to think of a boy I know that wouldn’t find this absolutely hilarious! This three ounce bag of cotton candy comes in a peppermint flavor and is sure to make anyone reading it laugh!

Fun Pack Card Game

This pack of cards is perfect to play on game night with the family and can easily be packed for road trips. It comes with six different games included in the package and is good for ages three and up. Since there are six different games, it is sure to have something fun for anyone playing.

Chapstick Holiday Collection

Chapstick has come out with a holiday collection and has included a ton of yummy scents. This set is sold in a three pack and has candy cane, pumpkin pie, and sugar cookie as the flavors. It is also only $1 per lip balm- you can’t beat that price!

2 Pack Unicorn Socks

Unicorns are still very popular amongst young girls, so this two pack of socks would be perfect for them! They are made of a fuzzy and spandex material that will provide comfort and warmth all day long. Since it comes in a pack of two, it could be split into two gifts!

5 Pack Silly Putty

Crayola is selling a five pack of silly putty that comes in individual eggs and assorted colors. It is a perfect gift to split up if you have multiple stockings to stuff or to give to one lucky kid. Putty can be a fun way to keep the kids occupied when on a long car ride or waiting at an appointment. The egg makes it easy to store it when done playing and throw it in your purse or car until next time!

Disney Princess Surprise

These surprise boxes are so much fun to give! Each box will contain 1 out of 12 Disney doll options that is enclosed in a storybook case. I love that your kid will get to be surprised when opening it. The dolls are only two inches tall which makes them perfect to take along wherever you go. It would also be a fun thing for your Disney loving kid to collect one at a time!

Joke Book

If you are up for it, this joke books looks like it could be a lot of fun. Instead of reading the jokes quietly and then telling them to friends, the book is meant to be played as a game. The players of the game take turns telling jokes back and forth and the object of the game is to not be the first person to laugh! With all of the craziness that came at us this year, it sounds like this would be a perfect way to sit around and laugh together and have some fun!

Bath Bombs

If you have a kiddo that loves to take baths, these bath bombs would be perfect for them. The bath bombs are decorated to look like they have sprinkles on them, have yummy scents and come in a set of nine!

Holly Jolly Puzzle

I love these micro jigsaw puzzles from Walmart! The toy comes with 150 pieces that follow a template. They are perfect for working on fine motor skills and double as an ornament once completed!

Crayola Silly Scents Markers

Crayola has come out with this 20 count pack of markers that kids are sure to love! Some of the smells are sweet like watermelon, while others are stinky like an old shoe! I can see my kids finding this hilarious while spending time coloring!

Practicing Gratitude

I think it goes without saying that this has been a tough year on pretty much everyone I know in one way or another. The world has been hit with a pandemic that has left a trickling effect of bad consequences for so many people. Sometimes, it is easy to start looking at the glass as half empty when the going gets especially tough and you can find yourself forgetting the things in your life to be thankful for. We are all guilty of feeling sorry for ourselves from time to time and that’s ok. However, I try really hard to make sure I see the glass as half full most of the time and remember all of the amazing ways I have been blessed in my life. I find myself feeling better physically, emotionally and spiritually when I practice gratitude and keep a thankful heart. Gratitude can be such an empowering emotion to have and can truly make your life better. Check out some ways that I try to show my gratitude towards myself, my life and the people I am surrounded with every day. I truly believe once you start to remind yourself of all of the good things that you are surrounded by, even the things you might overlook at times, you will start to feel a weight lifted. Remember, there is always something to be grateful for every single day.

Keep A Gratitude Journal

Keep a journal in a safe place and start your day out by jotting down a few things you are grateful for each morning. It can be as detailed or as simple as you want it to be. On days that you find yourself feeling down, this will come in handy to remember all of the good that surrounds you.

Tell Someone Something Positive

I think people are quick to point out the negative in people more often than the positive. If someone does something well, tell them. If someone crosses your path at some point on any given day, try to think of a way to give them a compliment. It doesn’t take up a lot of your time and could make their day special for them. Everyone likes to be noticed for something good, so spread some kindness around. Hopefully other people will return the love to someone else and keep paying it forward.

Smile

Your facial expressions tell others what your current mood is. Try to smile throughout the day as much as you can, even on a phone call. I love catching up with someone on the phone and being able to imagine the smile they have on their face because I can hear it in their voice. Smiling is always going to make you feel better and could impact those around you because they can be contagious.

Volunteer

Volunteering is an awesome way to help out in your community and practice gratitude. I find myself being more thankful for all of the things I might take for granted when I am helping people who might have less then I do. It is a good reminder to appreciate all of the things you have in your life and how important it is to help those in need. There have also been studies that show people who volunteer by helping others increase their own well-being and end up being able to show gratitude easier.

Enjoy The Little Things

Even though it can be hard on some days, there are so many little things all around us to be thankful for. Try to appreciate a day where the weather is enjoyable. Get excited when your favorite seasonal drink has come back out. Watch the movie that is streaming that made you laugh as a kid. Enjoy the conversation with the friend who took the time to reach out and say hi. Try to be thankful you have a house to clean and clothes to wash, since some people might not. Cheer because you got a parking spot close to the door. These are all small things that happen in our daily lives that can be easy to overlook. Try to be mindful when they happen to you and enjoy them to the fullest!

Enjoying Halloween Through Social Distancing

Halloween is right around the corner, guys! Unfortunately, Covid is still putting a damper on a lot of things in the world today. But, I am excited to tell you, it doesn’t have to cancel Halloween! I am always grateful when the holiday falls on a weekend because I feel like my kids get to enjoy the fun of it without having to worry about going to bed early for school. Halloween night is always a lot of  fun for my family and I was worried it would have to be one more thing that needed to be cancelled so I could keep my kiddos safe. I have been trying to brainstorm with other parents to see how we can spare our kiddos the disappointment of not being able to enjoy the night. While we will definitely need to make some tweaks to ensure everyone is staying safe, I think it can be done! I have listed some ideas below that could be a great way to celebrate the night at a safe distance from everyone else. Hopefully one of these ideas might work for you and your family, too!

Wear a Mask

We have been practicing for this night for the last several months. Since masks are required right now in this crazy world, you might as well have some fun with it. Have your children pick out a costume that has a face mask this year. It will help them stay safe and have some fun while doing it. You should grab a fun one for yourself, too!

Have a Costume Parade

Have all the neighborhood kiddos dress up in their costumes and have a parade. This is a easy way to keep the kids spaced out from one another and not touching since they will be in a line. At the end of the parade you could have treat bags set out for them that they can easily grab.

Throw a Zoom Party

Grab your device and log onto Zoom with family and friends. Make sure everyone is dressed up and ready to hang out for the night! Each family could take turns reading a Halloween story, telling some jokes or scary stories. This is a great way for the kids to see other people while staying safe at home.

Boo Bags With Your Neighbors

If you have never heard of a boo bag, this year would be a great time to start them! Neighbors join in and put together small treat bags for one house on the block. Drop the bags on the front porch with a note that says you have been “Boood” and instructions to keep the game going. Kids love coming out in the morning to a fun surprise and also love putting together bags to surprise someone else!

Make a Candy Shoot

I have seen people posting about how they are going to make a long shoot that will dispense candy! I think this is such an awesome and creative idea that would allow the kids to still go from house to house to trick or treat. I have heard the shoots can be made for about $20, so it wouldn’t be a huge investment. If you want instructions on how to make one, just google “Candy shoot for Halloween” and pick out the article or video that looks best to you!

Have a Spaced Out Trunk or Treat

Trunk or treat has always been a favorite of ours. Have a group of cars get together that are decked out in fun Halloween decor and loaded with yummy candy or treats to give out. The kids can walk from car to car in small socially distanced groups and still get to grab some candy and see fun decor. We like to blast some fun Halloween music and dress up, too!

Throw a Party At Home- Just You Guys

If you want to play it super careful, throw a party at home for just you and your family. Build a fun blanket fort, turn off the lights, make popcorn and throw on your favorite Halloween movie. You could also have a candy treasure hunt so the kids are still getting to snack on some delicious chocolate throughout the night!

The Benefits Of Walking

Since the country has been living in a very strange time for the last six months due to Covid, I feel like we have to continue to be creative on how we can keep maintaining a healthy lifestyle. A lot of gyms and exercise classes are still closed at this point and a lot of people aren’t ready to go back if they are open. At home workouts in a spare room or yard can be a great thing to get in the habit of doing and help you keep your sanity and those extra pesky pounds off. However, I like to change up my workouts so I don’t get bored doing the same thing every day. One low impact and free workout that often gets overlooked, is one of my favorites to do- walking! I feel like a lot of people have the misconception that walking is not considered a very good workout and will not help you lose weight. Not only can it help drop some pounds, but it offers a lot of other health benefits as well. So, the next time you have a free 20 minutes and feel like moving, put on your most comfortable walking shoes and head outside!

Improves Circulation

If you can add 20-30 minutes of walking several days a week, you will help improve the circulation in your body. A brisk walk will get your heartbeat up and will get your blood pumping. After time, this helps to strengthen your heart which will lead to better circulation throughout your body.

Helps Your Mental Health

One of the best things I can do for myself when I am feeling anxious is take a walk. It allows me to remove myself from the environment that might have been adding stress to me, move my body around and distract myself while doing it. I personally find getting some fresh air and allowing myself to be surrounded by nature very soothing to the soul.

Lose Weight

Going on regular walks has been proven to help with weight loss. Once you have gotten your body used to getting up and moving, add some extra challenges to your walk. You can increase your speed, go on different routes that include hills and add extra distance.

Catch Up With Loved Ones

Walking does not have to be a solo activity. Grab your family members or call a friend to meet you at a local park or trail. Use this time away from home to catch up with someone you love without any distractions.

Increases Energy

You are probably wondering, did I read that correctly? How can exercising make me have more energy? Studies have proven that if you find yourself sedentary during the day, try getting up and doing a quick walk. If you cannot leave your house, just try walking up and down your steps 10 times. Walking around will increase the blood flow in your body, which helps more oxygen reach your brain! Skip that cup of coffee and give it a try!

Summertime Home Decor

Does anyone else love decorating their house? It has always been such a fun hobby for me to go into the store and look at all of the new seasonal decor pieces that come out each year. I also love checking out Pinterest to see how I can be inspired by fellow pinners! I always think summer decor is some of the most fun pieces to pick out because everything seems so cheerful to me. I love hunting for cute items that will add some brightness to our home and outdoor living space. This year has definitely not been the exception. Since I am primarily looking at things online, I have been falling in love with a ton of new things at my favorite stores. It has been hard for me to narrow down which ones are my favorites, but I’m trying. I have linked some pieces that have caught my eye and that I plan on adding to our seasonal decor. Since we are staying home more often this summer, I think it will be really beneficial to change up some of our everyday surroundings and brighten up our space to make it even more cheerful! Let me know if you have found any awesome summer decor pieces, too!

Flip Flop Sign

These Amazon wood signs are super cute! There are a ton of different quotes and colors to pick from, but the flip flop one seems perfect to me for summer time. I am definitely someone who could rock a comfy pair of flip flops year long, so this could be my life motto! The signs are only $10 and come with free shipping on your first order!

Pineapple Doormat

I love pineapple decor and this cute welcome mat is no exception. I love the bright blue and yellow colors for summer and the price is reasonable. It also gets amazing reviews!

Twinkle Star String Lights

String lights on a patio always scream summer time nights to me! I love the twist on these adorable lights that are shaped like stars and I know my kids will love them, too! They could also double as party or holiday decor during other times of the year!

Outdoor Patio Planter

These patio planters from Target are some of the cutest planters I have ever seen! I love the four different choices that are offered- each one is just as cute as the next! They are so bright, fun and cheerful and would make a perfect addition to any porch or patio! They are also only $8 and get a 5 star review from almost every customer!

Lattice Large Side Table

Crate and Barrel has a ton of really fun side tables. This would definitely be a splurge purchase, but I think it would totally be worth it! I really love the large lattice side table to set outside in between a couple of chairs! It’s a perfect addition to hold a snack and cold glass of lemonade while chilling outside!

3 Piece Wood Bistro Set

Check out this adorable three piece bistro set from Kirklands. It is currently on sale for under $90 and includes a table, two chairs and cushions! You can not beat that price! It is a natural wood finish which can match any space and all pieces fold easily for storage!

Outdoor Lantern

Target is really on point with their summer home decor this year! Even though I tend to go towards pieces that are brighter in color, I really love this simple outdoor white lantern. It is small and ceramic and would make a perfect addition to any table!
