8 Hot Beauty Trends You’ll Want To Look for in 2020

It’s a new year and a new decade and that means exciting new trends in the beauty front. I’ll admit that as a kid, I envisioned the year 2020 with driving flying cars and robot nannies. Even though that hasn’t happened yet, there are still some really fun things to look forward to this year! Here are some of my favorite:

8 Hot Beauty Trends You’ll Want To Look for in 2020

1. Bucket bags

The hot little accessory that you’ll start seeing on every fashionista’s arm is the bucket bag. This drawstring purse is a fun twist on the norm and is fashionable and  functional. I like the chick simplicity of this Roxy bucket bag and of course this gorgeous Kate Spade bucket bag.

2. Chunky boots

Hopefully you held onto your Doc Martens after all these years because big chunky boots are coming back. If these chunky sneakers are too much for you, then these Steve Maddens may be more your style.

3. Lip masks

Face masks were so last year, and we’re glad they came along, but now start looking for the newest craze: lip masks. These do amazing things for your kisser and this berry lip sleep mask has impressive reviews.

4. Mini scrunchies

The scrunchie proved itself and for that, we give a nod. But sometimes you just  want the soft hug of a scrunchie without the 80s hair baggage. This year, start looking for the kid-sister version of the scrunchie. Lululemon has a fun selection called the “Uplifting Scrunchie.”

5. Sustainable clothing

The fashion world is becoming much more eco-conscientious and sustainable clothing made from recycled materials is blazing to the forefront. New brands like HappyxNature (Kate Hudson’s Earth-friendly fashion line) and prAna are making gorgeous sustainable clothes that make you feel good about what you’re wearing.

6. Electrolytes in your beauty products

Electrolytes aren’t just for hydration after a tough workout; start looking for them in new beauty products. These intense hydrating moisturizers and skincare products are made with minerals that when mixed together and with water, carry electricity to aid your body’s hydration. Try this electrolyte-infused moisturizer or coconut water cream.

7. Free deodorant

Not free-ninety-nine, but aluminum-free aluminum-free deodorantdeodorant. It’s about time. Aluminum in many existing deodorants prevents the body from eliminating harmful toxins, trapping them inside and potentially clogging up the lymph nodes. That’s a breast cancer risk! This year, switch to an .

8. Liquid nose jobs and thread lifts

There always seems to be some new procedure on the forefront and if you haven’t heard about liquid nose jobs and thread lifts yet, you probably will.

Non-surgical rhinoplasty, also nick-named the “liquid nose job” is a temporary filler injection (which is reportedly fairly painless) used to alter the shape of your nose. Much like botox or lip injections, the liquid nose job is temporary and appealing to those who don’t want to commit to surgery.

A thread lift is pretty much a temporary face lift. It’s kind of awesome. Temporary sutures are used to pull or “lift” parts of the skin, like droopy jowls or sagging cheeks. You may see more and more people turning to it this year and beyond.

Holiday Gift Ideas for Your Mom and Dad

Christmas is right around the corner you guys! Even though I am not sure how it is already mid November, I know I need to start getting organized and start buying my Christmas presents ASAP. I don’t like to wait until the last minute to get my shopping done because I feel like a lot of things get sold out quickly during this time of the year. I never have a problem figuring out what I want to buy for my kiddos since they drop not so subtle hints all year long! However, sometimes I do find myself struggling on what I want to get for my parents and in laws. I feel like my parents never have a want or need for anything specific. And, any time I ask them for ideas I am usually met with “We really don’t need anything”. Anyone else hear that from their parents? I know they mean well but I am left racking my brain trying to come up with something they don’t already have and would find useful or fun! I have been doing some searching this year and have found some awesome and affordable gift ideas that would be perfect for any adult in your life. Check them out below and snag some before they sell out!

Kindle

Kindle prices have started to drop over the years. This one from Amazon gets great reviews, has free shipping and is under $100! It also comes in two different colors and has a long battery life. It is a perfect gift idea for the readers in your life!

Electric Tea Kettle

An electric tea kettle is a perfect gift to use for the upcoming chilly weather. They are faster than using a standard kettle or microwave. I love the stainless steel color that will match any kitchen and the auto shutoff. This one is currently on sale at Target for under $20! Grab one before they are gone!

Meat Thermometer

I love Williams and Sonoma kitchen gear, but some times their prices can be a bit high. This meat thermometer is a perfect gift and gets a five star rating. It is also super affordable and under $25. It has large numbers that can be read easily and quickly and will be a perfect addition to any chef’s kitchen.

Sherpa Blanket

Sherpa material can be found everywhere this season. I am in love with this cozy, warm and soft sherpa blanket from Macy’s. It is the perfect size to cuddle up with while reading, watching a movie or taking a nap. It is also reversible so it offers two different color patterns that can be switched up. I am crushing on the buffalo plaid color which is also trending right now!

Scrabble Deluxe

This scrabble deluxe game is a great edition to a classic game. I love that it is made from a beautiful  wood case that can be easily folded up so it can be taken on the go. Family game nights are one of my favorite ways to spend time with my parents and in laws. This game would be a perfect addition to our evenings and is under $40 with free shipping!

Mug Warmer

I seem to be notorious for giving out mugs for Christmas every year. I know my parents use them daily and my Mom always loves getting new ones. However, I wanted to change it up a bit this year. I found this awesome mug warmer on Amazon that is getting great reviews. It is also only $10.99 which makes it a really fun and affordable present.

Instant Pot

Instant pots have seemed to take the kitchen and cooking world by storm this year. They make cooking so much quicker and easier, especially on nights when you want to relax and save time. Walmart has this one on rollback right now and it is over $50 off!

K Cup Variety Pack

Drinking the same thing every morning can get boring. How fun is this variety pack for Keurig’s? This pack allows you to try over 30 different drinks and see which flavor you like best! It is sure to give your morning routine a little variety and change!

Healthy Alternatives for Two of Your Favorite Holiday Treats

This post may contain affiliate links which means we earn a minimal commission if you choose to purchase something we love and post about. Don’t worry, it doesn’t affect you in any way! Thanks for supporting us mamas, our families, and our passion for bringing you the best!

Every year from October through December it’s a battle of wills between my hereditary sweet tooth (thanks mom) and all of the holiday treats floating around. And since I’m not one to punish my body by starving or denying it a little dessert every now and then, I’ve found a few hacks that deliver the yum while still being totally healthy!

If you’re looking to indulge this holiday season but still stay on track for your health goals, try these genius swaps.

Healthy Alternatives for Two of Your Favorite Holiday Treats

Eat this, not that…

Protein Peanut Butter Cups instead of Reeses

I’ve been notorious for raiding my kids’ trick-or-treat bag for all the Reeses cups. Those things are so good! But this year, because I’m cutting the processed sugar, I whipped up the most delicious copy-cat…protein peanut butter cups! They taste just like a Reeses, but they’re packed with protein and natural ingredients.

Check out this video for easy instructions and the exclusive Kylee’s Korner recipe below!

Kylee’s Korner Protein PB cups:

 (Makes 5-7)
  • 4 TBSP natural crunchy PB
  • 1/4 C (vanilla protein powder)
  • 4 TBSP Unsweeted Vanilla Almond Milk
  • 1/3 C 60% or 90% dark chocolate
  • 5-7 silicone cupcake cups
1. Combine all ingredients except dark chocolate in a bowl.
2. Melt Dark Chocolate according to package directions
3. Pour small amount of chocolate into bottom of each silicone cup, swirl around to coat the bottom.
4. Spoon PB mix into each chocolate coated cup, then top with the remaining chocolate.
5. Freeze for at least 15 minutes
6. Pop Out and Enjoy!

Eat this, not that…

Dark Chocolate Salted Protein Truffles instead of that box of chocolates

Every year a box of chocolates inevitably falls into my lap and is usually gone within a day. This year I found the most amazing swap that satisfies my chocolate craving without all the sugar and fat. So I’ll be freezing these dark chocolate truffles to keep on hand and re-gifting that box of chocolates!

Dark Chocolate Salted Protein Truffles:

 (Makes 15)
  • 3 TBSP Natural PB
  • 2 TBSP Unsweet Dark Cocoa Powder
  • 1 C Dry Rolled Oats
  • 1 tsp salt
  • Splash of Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk
  • 2 TBSP hard coconut oil
  • 1/3 C Dark Chocolate Chips
  • 2 Scoops Vanilla Protein Powder ()
  • Drizzle or 2 of all natural Honey
1. Mix PB, Dark Cocoa Powder, Rolled Oats, Protein Powder, coconut oil, salt and splash of almond milk together in a bowl.
2. Drizzle honey to add some strength to help in combine. Add a little more almond milk if needed.
3. Mix in Dark Chocolate Chips
4. Roll into 15 small balls and enjoy! Freeze what you don’t eat and get one out any time you have a sweet attack!
As far as healthy holiday hacks go, protein powder can make some really delicious, guilt-free desserts. Try these healthy protein brownies for example.
The holidays don’t need to be a reason to stop your healthy habits. Before you hit a holiday party, drink a protein shake to avoid overeating. While you’re there, fill your plate first with veggies, fruit, and lean protein and save a bit of room for that sip of eggnog. Happy holidays!

Summer Activities That Mom Will Love, Too

Summer break is in full swing. I recently wrote a blog that shares some tips on how I help make summer break a success in our house. However, if your kids are anything like mine, their attention spans can be short and I’m constantly on the hunt for new things for us to try. I always love doing all the fun, crazy and silly things that keep them laughing and exploring, but I will admit that there are some things I like doing more than others. Surly I am not the only Mom who cries a little bit on the inside when they ask to make slime or decorate something in glitter! I think my carpets and floors will forever have a sparkle to them. However, there are some activities that we have tried this summer that have been thoroughly enjoyable for the kiddos and me. If time allows you to, give some of these a try and let me know how it goes!

Outdoor Fun

It is no secret that Cody and I love to be outdoors. I am so glad we are passing that joy down to our children. Some of our best memories from this summer are when we are outdoors playing.

Hairdresser

Any other ladies love having their hair played with? It is so relaxing and luckily my daughter loves to do it! We set up a pretend hair salon and I gladly take on the role of being her muse.

Bake or Cook

Yes- this one can get a bit messy, but I love to have my kids helping me out in the kitchen. Since we are already creating the mess, I try to have us make something that we can take advantage of eating throughout the week. They love to learn new recipes and get excited when Daddy comes home to try our newest creation!

Outdoor Movie

Movie time is always fun. I love to snuggle up as a family and laugh. During the summer, it can be a really nice change of pace to have a movie night outside. Gather neighbors and friends, find someone with a projector, and grab lots of pillows. All that is left to do is sit back and relax!

Scrapbooking

I know most people do not print out pictures like they used to. If you are like me, all of your photo albums are now stored on your phone, but I do still love going through old family photos from when I was younger. My kids also enjoy when I take time to print out pictures of them and put them into a scrapbook. It gives them a fun craft to work on for the afternoon while preserving something that will hopefully be really special to them one day.

Reading

We are big fans of going to the public library and picking out books to read. One of my favorite things to do with the kids is finding a book that is fun and appropriate for all of them and reading together as a family at night. We look forward to picking up on the next chapter every evening and seeing where the story is heading!

Volunteer

I have always enjoyed helping others and I love that we are instilling these values into our kids. I do not think they are ever to young to learn the importance of lending a helping hand to someone who is in need. Check out your local resources to find volunteer opportunities that would be appropriate for you and your kids to try together!

The Best Stocking Stuffers On Amazon

Christmas is officially less than a month away! Who else can’t believe it? I have been trying to buy toys and presents for my family as I see things when we are out, especially if they are on a good sale. I feel like my children are usually easy to buy for- they basically want every toy that they see on tv! However, sometimes I struggle on getting creative with the rest of my family, especially with stocking stuffers! I promised myself I wouldn’t procrastinate this year on trying to find some cool and unique gifts for their stockings. Anyone who has been following me knows my love for Amazon. So, of course I have resorted to them to help me find the best and most affordable gifts this year. Check out some of my favorite things that I have gotten so far for the adult guys, gals and tweens in my life. I’d recommend ordering sooner than later so you will have plenty of time to have everything shipped to you. Amazon makes my life so much easier this way- no lines or traffic to deal with! Happy shopping!

For the Tweens:

Nail Polish Set of 12

My nieces are starting to get into all the girly goodies, so they love to do their nails. I love all the bright and fun colors this kit has to offer. You can’t beat the price either for 12 different nail polishes!

Sneaker Ball Deodorizers

I know a lot of kids are into so many different activities and have their own sports bags to keep all their gear in. I also know those bags can get smelly after lots of use. I love throwing in one of these cute deodorizer balls to help with that sweaty smell!

Colorful and Fun Socks

Who doesn’t love fun and colorful socks? These are so vibrant and fun for any age and the price is amazing! They also get awesome reviews.

Skeleton Gloves

These skeleton gloves are awesome for the young men in your life. They are fun, casual and will help keep them warm during those cold winter months.

For the Gals:

Fashion Reading Glasses

My mom and mother in law are always looking around the house for their readers. I got them each a pack of these last year and they absolutely love them. They can leave a pair on each floor of their house, in their car and in their purse. Plus, they are adorable, a great price and get amazing reviews!

Wallet Purse For Your Phone

I love these small cell phone wallets. You can carry them as a clutch, wallet or crossbody. Plus, they come in a ton of different colors and have slots for your license and credit cards. This is perfect when you want to run a few errands without being weighed down by a big handbag.

Chapstick Holder

These Chapstick key chain holders are so adorable. I am constantly digging for my Chapstick in my purse, but these make it so quick and easy to find. They come as a pair, so you can share one with a friend or give as two separate gifts!

Bath Bombs

I am obsessed with bath bombs. You can get them for any lady or girl who likes to take relaxing bubble baths. These are a best seller on amazon. The price is great, and the packaging is so pretty and feminine.

For the Guys:

My husband always likes to have a fresh-looking wallet. It can get overwhelming trying to find the perfect one because there are so many to choose from. I found this one last year and he loved it! There are several different colors to choose from and it gets amazing reviews!

If you have a guy in your life who likes to enjoy an occasional cigar, this is a great cigar cutter. It’s stainless steel, has amazing reviews and is under $10 with free shipping!

Do you know a guy who likes everything they eat to be hot and spicy? This tabasco sauce comes in a small bottle on a keychain! It’s prefect for your man to always have access to making his food delicious!

These gloves can come in handy for so many things. They are heat and fire resistant so are perfect for grilling, bonfires and fire building. They are under $17 and have free shipping!
