Chasing the Snow!

Happy spring everyone! And hello from my blog! Holy smokes it has been a long while since I last made an appearance on here! In my defence though I did get pregnant and dealt with a lot of scary stuff early and midway through with this pregnancy so I kind of have a good excuse, yeah? lol…

I feel like I need to dedicate a post just to being chatty kathy so that I can fill everyone in on what has been going on as of late. For those of you who do not follow me on IG (@kyleeskorner) you may or may not know that I am a little pregnant right now, actually Im a lot pregnant as I just hit week 30 with A little guy who likes to sit so far forward that my bladder acts as his own personal trampoline! He is SUPER active, he kicks and punches what seems like all day (and night) long River thinks that it is hilarious and is constantly placing her little hands on my tummy and giving him a little shake so he will say hello. This pregnancy definitely hasn’t been a cakewalk like my pregnancy with River but we honestly couldn’t be more excited to welcome this little boy into our lives in a few more weeks.  Cody and I were talking the other day about how crazy it is to think that he could pop out on the same timeline as River who was three weeks early, I get a little anxious and a lot a bit excited thinking that he could grace us with his presence in 7 weeks or so! EEEEKKK! Crazy! I promise to go into more detail about everything soon but lets get onto todays post shall we?

Chasing the Snow seemed like the perfect title for todays post because that is pretty much what we did last weekend as a family. In the area that we live in we don’t get a ton of snow throughout winter. If we do get a snowstorm the snow is melted again within a few days time. I am perfectly fine with this because to be completely honest i’m not much of a winter weather person. I grew up in Texas so cold weather is not fun for me haha… however my daughter and husband are obsessed with the snow, so we decided to load up the car and take a little drive over to Stanley and Sun Valley Idaho. We were in for the best surprise ever as we entered into Stanley and they didn’t just have a few inches of snow like I was thinking they would but instead at least three feet of snow still hanging around! It was insane! We enjoyed each others company as we drove and had so much fun playing in the snow, even I didn’t mind it because we had the sun on our side that kept us nice and warm as we played for what seemed like hours. River had a blast and not even five minutes after getting into the car she fell asleep. I know that everyone was probably enjoying their first spring weekend planting flowers and such but we had a blast playing in and hiking around in the snow! I hope you all have a fabulous day, thank you again for stopping by!

Hi there!!

I apologize for being a little MIA the past couple of weeks, our life has been insanely busy and I feel like I have hardly had time to stop and catch my breath! Don’t get me wrong, I would much rather be busy than  just sitting around doing nothing but it has put a little damper in my blog. I apologize for that I promise to step it up!

Choosing gratitude has been a big goal this year for me so when I saw this shirt I knew that I had to have it! I wanted to share with you the ways that I like to choose gratitude in my daily life!

For those of you who have followed my blog and story for a while know that 2014 was one of the hardest years both physically and emotionally for my family and me. I was in a very dark place when I started blogging after my third miscarriage, I was questioning everything regarding faith and hope for future family growth and expansion. I was completely lost, not to mention I was an emotional wreck. My poor husband saw me cry more in 2014 than in the previous 8 years we had been a couple. I remember being so angry and hurt about everything that I would lash out at anyone who wanted tell me that “everything would be ok” and “it will all work out in the end”  for one thing I was so bitter that I wanted to smack them and their innocent kind ways and counter back asking “how the heck do you know?!” I sunk deeper and deeper into my depression, I stopped speaking to the one person who has always been there and loved me even at my worst, god. Instead I was angry with him and I questioned me faith in him and his so called “plan” for me. I stopped reading my scriptures, I just went through the motions of being a mom and wife while my husband and daughter walked on egg shells around me knowing that I was just a ticking time bomb. I had so much hate in my heart that instead of seeing my blessings I only saw what I didn’t have.

One morning while distractedly scrolling through Instagram on my phone, River sitting right next to me climbed in my lap trying to take my phone away. I got annoyed and just about yelled at her when I caught a glimpse of her face, where was my happy little girl?  Her beautiful eyes that were usually filled with so much joy and life were instead filled with tears and dull, dark sadness, instead of a soft innocent smile gracing her lips she had a worried expression all over her face. Before I could even say anything to her she threw herself into my chest saying “mommy I love you” in a pained last attempt at getting her mommy back. Guilt swept over me like a ton of bricks as I cradled my precious angel, and for the last time I started to bawl for the loss of my unborn babies, I cried for being a terrible mother and wife for the few weeks I was in my fog and I cried for turning my back on god. Yes I had a crappy year of losses but god had given me so much more to be grateful for and here I was being so self absorbed into my own problems completely ignoring the gifts I had been given.

I made it my number one  goal for 2015 to show gratitude in my everyday life, and to grow spiritually. I remember hearing a beautiful talk I believe through general conference (see what I believe here) about keeping a gratitude journal, and writing down five things per day that you were grateful for or if you saw gods hand in your life that day. I began doing this in January, in the beginning I was just writing the normal stuff that anyone would be grateful for, family, children, jesus, jobs etc. within a couple of weeks the more obvious things started to get more difficult to write because I had already used them before. This is when journaling became fun, I was forced to start with a prayer and reading my scriptures to get in the right mindset and think about the tiny little things that we take for granted and to think about how god had touched our life that day or protected us when we needed him most. Instead of being a chore writing in my journal became something that I looked forward to it helped me grow closer to my heavenly father and it had helped my heart be filled with gratitude.

About two months ago I decided to start having Cody and River in on the gratitude journal aside from my own personal journal we now have a family gratitude journal. Each night before bed is the time that we have set apart to fill our journal. If you want to be humbled I challenge you to ask a child what they are most grateful for, children truly are angels straight from heaven. I always thought that we were given children to teach them and prepare them in this life, but I was wrong, god sends us children because their sweet spirit and simply beautiful testimony of christ teaches us to be humble. River completely blew my mind the first time I asked her what she was grateful for, she was saying things that took me months to discover for myself. This has quickly become our favorite time of the day and has strengthened our family bond so much! I love my sweet little family so very much, if you are struggling to choose gratitude in your life I would highly recommend starting a gratitude journal. It is impossible to be  sad when you have a heart filled with gratitude and a heart full of love!

Thank you guys again for taking the time to read todays post! You guys are awesome!

Hi there!

I was able to team up with the fabulous people at Long Tall Sally for todays post and bring you this oversized sweater dress with knee high boots! As most of you know, I am a lot taller than your every day average gal and Long tall Sally caters to those frustrated gals 5’9″ and above who have trouble finding clothing in the correct lengths. Genetics are so incredible, it literally blows my mind how many heights and body types there are out there.  I stand at just under 6’1″ flat foot and am built like a rectangle lol… I have super long monkey arms, legs and a crazy long torso absolutely no booty and have always been flat chested so for me finding tops, jeans, dresses (anything really) that actually fit length wise for my long stems can be quite challenging and frustrating. When I was younger I hated to shop because I was never able to just walk into a store and buy something off the rack without having to get it altered here or let out there. So I learned to online shop and luckily most stores have caught on that there are tall women in this world and offer tall or longer lengths online! Yay!

Lets get on the subject of this completely cute, chic, and insanely comfortable outfit I have on for this post! I love sweater dresses in the fall and winter months because they feel like pajamas but look like you just hopped off the runway. This sweater dress is BY FAR the softest material I have ever felt or have had on my body. It reminds me of the blankets we use to get for river when she was a baby, I just want to wear this dress everywhere and snuggle in it all winter long! You can wear it alone and it will be about knee length, perfect for those lounging around saturdays. Just pair it with some comfy socks make a hot cocoa and snag your favorite blanket and you are ready to snuggle up and watch that romantic comedy you’ve been waiting to watch all week!

I personally decided to give a little more shape to the dress by belting it at the waist and making the dress a bit shorter so that I could show off these fleece lined tights, yup you read that right these tights are so soft and warm and pure perfection to my little soul! Fleece lined.. ummm genious! I also wore these beautiful black boots that I had folded down so they were knee length but you can also fold them up to pair with this outfit or a sexy pair of skinny jeans and have the over the knee look that everyone is going crazy for right now.  They are very fashionable and versatile!

I honestly loved wearing this outfit and think that so many people (not just tall gals like me) can pull it off! Sweater dress weather is alive and well and I am loving it! I hope you all enjoyed the post! Thanks so much for following along!

Love you guys!

DIY Spider Hair Clips

Hi everyone!

This weeks tutorial is on the adorable spider hair clips that River and I made this week. Has anyone else been going craft crazy this month? River is at such a fun (and exhausting) age right now, every time we see halloween decorations she gets so excited. She is like her dad when it comes to being scared, she loves it and wants to play monsters all the time. She asked me a couple weeks ago if we could make some decorations for our apartment and of course Cody and I said yes. We have been going craft crazy ever since (more posts on that to come).

Our most recent project was the DIY spider hair clips that River has been wearing EVERYDAY since! We had made all of these adorable decorations for our house including some cute spiders out of cups and I kept noticing her trying to put them on her head so I thought it was time to make some cute hair accessories and I just LOVE how they turned out, actually everyone that we have seen the past few days have come and asked me where I bought them. I hope that you all like the tutorial! Thanks so much for watching!

Daisy Blouse!

Daisy Blouse: PiperStreet Shop / Jeans: Hollister Skinny (similar) / Wedges: Target (love THESE  too)

Hello everyone! Happy thursday!

Today I had the INCREDIBLE opportunity to work with the lovely ladies at PiperStreet Shop. They sent me this crazy cute Daisy blouse to try out and see if it would be something I would wear. Let me tell you, this top is great! As you can tell above it is a very stylish and flowy top with a beautiful daisy pattern  woven throughout. The pattern of the daisy’s running lengthwise paired with the length being longer on the front and back of the shirt creates a very slimming effect to any body shape or type. The bohemian design is very forgiving and is the type of top that will cover any imperfections while the print still creates a slimmed waist.

I paired this look with my favorite Hollister skinny Jeans and some cute wedges I got from Target a couple of years ago. I think that it would be SO adorable paired with a brown moto leather jacket (like this!) , some layered necklaces and a cute hat! All of you know what it is like to be a young family still paying off student loans and living on a VERY strict budget, so even though I wasn’t able to style it exactly like I saw it in my head I hope that I can give my lovely readers inspiration! Thank you guys again for reading I hope that you have such a GREAT weekend! See you later!

Dont forget to subscribe to my Instagram to keep up to date with our daily activities!

And check out my FB page as well!

Love you guys!
