Celebrate Spring with FREE Mrs. Meyer’s Seasonal Scents

Every year, I look forward to the return of spring.

Spring means finally planting the seeds I ordered this winter, drying linens on the breeze, and baking a pie with the rhubarb that’s popping up in my garden. It also means Mrs. Meyer’s spring scents are here!

I eagerly wait all winter to see which new scents will come out and for the return of old favorites. This year, the limited-edition spring scents are mint, peony and lilac.

I’ll tell you more about each scent in a second, but first I want to tell you how you can get your hands on them for FREE. When you place your first order of $20 from Grove Collaborative using this link here, you’ll get this free kit in your choice of scents:

+Free Mrs. Meyer’s Spring hand soap
+Free Mrs. Meyer’s Spring dish soap
+Free Mrs. Meyer’s Spring multi-surface spray
+Grove Collaborative Spring apron (new! Pink linen)
+Free Shipping & 60 Day VIP Trial

Existing customers will receive free Grove walnut scrubber sponges, which are perfect for spring cleaning.

Mint is Mrs. Meyer’s new scent this year. Like all of Mrs. Meyer’s scents, it has a garden-fresh smell thanks to plant-derived ingredients and essential oils.

I put the mint multi-surface spray to the test the other night after I made salmon and asparagus for dinner. It gets rid of cooking messes and odors, and smells like a refreshing spring breeze — even though it’s still too chilly to have the windows open!

Like the multi-surface spray, the dish soap is super effective on tough messes. You only need the tiniest amount, so this bottle will last us well beyond spring. I usually shy away from floral scents because they often smell like perfume, but Mrs. Meyer’s peony smells just like a bouquet of lush blooms.

Mrs. Meyer’s hand soap has me hooked, so I always have a bottle in our kitchen and bathrooms. The soap is thick and rich, and the pump dispenser is much sturdier than the ones you get at the grocery store. When my husband tried the lilac scent for the first time, he said, “Wow! This smells like lilacs. What is it?” I guess it’s safe to say I’ll be ordering more of this scent!

One of the things I love most about this Mrs. Meyer’s trio — aside from the lovely scents — is that the bottles come in such cheerful colors. That’s also why I love this blush linen apron. It’s almost too pretty to use, but I’ve been wearing it for cooking and potting plants and it does a great job of keeping my clothes clean.

That’s exactly the quality I’ve come to expect from Grove Collaborative. They hand-select natural products that really work and deliver them (carbon offset) right to my doorstep, on my schedule. Plus, they have their own line of amazing household products.

14 Creative Uses for Baby Wipes That Will Rock Your World!

We just welcomed baby #3 into our home and I’m amazed at the amount of baby wipes needed just for one little man. What’s even more amazing are the ways you can use baby wipes every single day to make your life easier! You don’t need to have a baby at home to utilize the amazing possibilities of baby wipes. After reading these, it just might convince you to always keep a pack or two handy!

14 Creative Uses for Baby Wipes That Will Rock Your World

1. Use a baby wipe to pick up tiny pieces of hair.

Whenever my hubby shaves, he inevitably leaves little tiny pieces of hair around the sink and bathroom counter that are a bugger to clean up! The trick: use a baby wipe. One sweep of a baby wipe will pick up all of those minuscule hairs left by pets, hair cuts, and beard trims.

2. A convenient makeup and mascara remover.

Baby wipes are created for sensitive baby skin and so they do wonders on your face as well. I always keep a travel pack of wipes in my makeup bag or travel bag for convenient makeup removal. A baby wipe will even take off my toughest mascara!

3. Removes faux tan stains.

If you’ve just had a spray tan and notice lines where they’re not supposed to be, take a baby wipe to them. Baby wipes can take off stains from all types of faux tanning whether it be from a spray tan or a self tanner.

4. Always keep wipes in the car!

Even after babies, it’s a smart idea to keep wipes in the car. You can use them to wipe dust off your dash, clean up spills, or get an annoying bird poop splatter off your window. Whenever I’m at a stop light, I pull a wipe out and give the car a quick clean.

5. Use a baby wipe as a quick mop.

Spot mop in between mop jobs with a simple baby wipe. Just put one under your shoe and walk around to any trouble areas, scrubbing until clean. It’s the best thing I’ve done to prolong the time between having to mop again.

6. Remove pen and marker from skin and home surfaces.

Countless times my kids have come to me with pen marks up and down their arms and legs. Apparently it’s fun for them to give each other “tattoos” just like Maui in the movie Moana. Whenever this happens, a baby wipe will take the pen marks off in a jiffy. Wipes also remove pen and markers from home surfaces as well, like walls and floors.

7. Takes foundation stains off your clothes.

You know when you take your favorite sweater off only to find a trail of your foundation left behind? I hate when that happens, but luckily I’ve found that a baby wipe will act as a quick foundation stain remover!

8. Removes deodorant markings from clothing.

Similarly, a baby wipe can remove deodorant markings from your dark clothing when you take them on and off. It’s a trick that sales associates use in clothing stores when we all go in to try on clothes.

9. Tame erratic eyebrows.

I’ll be the first to admit that some mornings, my eyebrows are cray-cray. I just take a baby wipe to them and smooth them flat. It works every time! I wonder if a baby wipe could work like that on my little boy’s cowlick?

10. Clean your shoes.

It’s no secret that I love shoes and I’m a stickler for keeping them clean. One of the biggest ways I use baby wipes, besides on my babies, is to keep my shoes clean. That’s why I’m always grateful to have a small pack of wipes in my purse.

11. Stop licking your envelopes—use a wipe!

Hate the feeling of licking an envelope like I do? A simple solution is to use a baby wipe. And when it starts to dry up, just wet it again!

12. Wipe off a chalkboard.

Nothing beats a baby wipe when it comes to cleaning off a chalkboard. Hands down, it works the very best.

13. Throw ’em in with your camping supplies.

Wipes are incredibly handy to have while camping. They can keep hands and faces clean when there’s no running water; they can squash bugs that come into your tent, and you can even drop a few drops of lavender essential oils into them to act as a natural bug repellent.

14. Keep them in your gym bag.

Lastly, and possibly one of my favorite creative uses for baby wipes is at the gym. Keep a package of wipes in your gym bag for wiping down equipment or for freshening up after a workout. Wipe off sweat from your neck and underarms before you head home.

Got any more creative uses for baby wipes? I’d love to hear them!

Here’s to 5 New Resolutions (and Getting Up at 5 a.m. Every Morning)

*I’m partnering with Crest to help keep easy resolutions with the launch of their new Crest® Gum Detoxify™ toothpaste.

I know January is a global time of renewal and fresh starts, but this January—with baby #3 only weeks away—I’m feeling more driven than ever. Change is in the air and I need to have a game plan.  Those sleepless nights are a’coming and my attention and energy is soon going to be spread even more thinly. This New Year, my resolutions are centered on my family and my health.

5 Resolutions (and One That’s Going To Sting a Bit)

1.Get up every morning at 5am. Yep, that’s the one that’s going to sting, but I know that those few quiet hours before my kids wake up is going to be crucial. From 5am-7am is going to be my time to workout, film my videos, read scriptures, and get ready. Growing up, my dad was a dairy farmer and got up at 4:30 a.m. his entire life. If he can do it…I can do it. It’s practically in my blood, right?

2. Tidy up the house every night instead of waiting until it drives me nuts. I find that the day goes much smoother when it starts and ends with a clean house. The in-between may get crazy, but taking 30 minutes at the end of every single day saves me hours of deep cleaning in the long run. Plus, I’m in a way better mood when the house is clean.

3. Consistent family night. Family night is such a good habit to get into. Once a week, we circle around as a family and have a quick little lesson (attention spans are only so long), play a game, and just enjoy being together. Last year was a good attempt, but this year I want to be more consistent.

4. No TV 1-2 hours before bed. Instead of winding down to the TV, I’d love for my little family to spend that time reading books or playing games together. And we’re going to make sure to say family prayers every night.

5. Go back to counting macros after the baby. It’s not for everyone, but I loved keeping track of macros. It’s a motivating way for me to stay healthy and it helped me lose the baby weight before, so I’m counting on macros and a good exercise routine to help me out again!

Healthy Routines and Your Gums

Speaking of healthy routines, most of us have some type of “be healthier” resolution. One occasionally overlooked aspect of our health is our oral health. Your smile is a huge part of who you are! At the start of this pregnancy, I noticed that my gums felt more tender than usual. That’s why I was so excited to try out the brand new Crest® Gum Detoxify™ toothpaste. It’s a revolutionary new toothpaste specially formulated with Activated Foam technology that reaches below the gum line. Did you know that even the most diligent brushers can’t reach there?

I love the Crest hashtag #ForGumsSake because really, #ForGumsSake, if you aren’t taking care of your gums, you aren’t taking care of you!

I’m impressed w ith how clean and refreshed my whole mouth feels after using Crest® Gum Detoxify™ toothpaste. It gently cools my gums during and after brushing and leaves my gums feeling nice and tingly. It’s actually a foaming and cooling toothpaste that deep cleans my entire mouth. I love the crisp, healthy feel I get after brushing now!

Can we build in #ForGumsSake? Maybe – #ForGumsSake, if you aren’t taking care of your gums, you aren’t taking care of you!

Crest® Gum Detoxify™ toothpaste is available at retailers like Walmart, Target, Kroger, and online starting in early 2018. Swap out your old toothpaste and give it a try!

The key to making a new resolution stick is all about turning it into a routine. Teeth brushing—that’s an easy one. Now waking up at 5:00 a.m. every single morning…that one’s going to be a bit trickier. (Just remember dad on the farm, dad on the farm.)

Here’s to new resolutions and to sticking with them!

Baby #3 Is A….

Baby #3 is A….

BOY!!!

We are so incredibly grateful and excited to meet our little guy in February! River says she can’t wait to hold him, kiss him and snuggle him.  I think that parks can sense that something is going on but he is still a little clueless. After losing the three babies between River and Parks I wasn’t sure that I would be blessed with anymore little ones of my own, when we got pregnant with parks we were so grateful for him and for our time with River. She sat in the baby seat for just under 4 years, I am de-throning parks before he turns two! I hope that he adjusts well and I know that it may be a bit of a struggle at first but I think and hope that as they grow up together they’ll be great friends! this new little man was a pleasant surprise and we couldn’t be more grateful to have him growing and getting ready to make his big appearance into the world! Thank you all for your love and your support, I really appreciate each and every one of you!

The Scoop on my Favorite Essential Oils

Essential Oils. It’s become, almost a buzz word in the past couple years. LOTS of people are interested in the support essential oils can provide for themselves and their families. Understandably so! When I first started using oils, I thought people were perhaps, a little cooky.

OILS? seriously?

Then I tried a few. Then a few more. And before long? I was drinking the kool aid. I LOVE OILS!

My love led me to a few different companies, but I was a little put back by the structure of the companies producing the oils. I wanted GOOD quality oils, lower cost, and didn’t want to mess with the hassle of “signing up” or meeting a monthly order quota.

I’ll be honest. I think there are several different brands of oils that produce a good quality oil, but Plant Therapy has quickly become my favorite. Great quality oils based on much research (I encourage you, if concerned, to research this company and how they obtain their oils. If you’re into knowing that stuff!) Amazing price points. No direct sale structure. You can actually go TO this company’s website and buy well price oils directly. No run arounds. Another specific reason I love them is due to their “KID SAFE” line of oils safe for kiddos. You DO have to be careful when using oil on children and I feel like this company really addresses this concern well with their Kid Safe line.

If you’re a newbie to oils, it’s important to first note, these aren’t an “end all” to every ailment. They’re not going to magically cure ALL your ailments, but they do help to support your health and relieve symptoms. When you think about it, oils have been around FOREVER. Think about the history of Christ’s birth. Remember what the wise men brought? Yep. Frankincense and Myrrh – both oils. Back then, people didn’t have the access to nor the ability to create some of the medicines we use now. They would use natural products to help.

I’m all about modern medicine; however, if there are ways to find relief in a more natural way, of course I’m going to exhaust those options first. I can whole heartedly saying, using essential oils has been a blessing to our family. I totally get why people feel it can be a bit overwhelming to start using oils. There are so many and you can literally spend HOURS/DAYS researching the different uses. I wanted to provide some very basic information that is easy to apply to your own life. I am NO expert; however, these essential oils are most used in my home and they are an excellent starting point for someone experimenting or new on the essential oil journey.

Here are the oils I use most in my home in no specific order.

I do encourage you to look at each oil and note any suggestions for administering. For the most part, you can either 1) Diffuse into the air via a diffuser 2) Administer topically, usually using a barrier oil.
(It’s important to recognize that some of these oils should be diluted with a barrier oil, such as fractionated coconut oil. This is mostly due to skin sensitivities.)

  1. Lavender – Maybe you’ve heard of Lavender being a sleep aid? It’s true! Ever notice lavender potpourri satchels? Lavender bed spray? Even Lavender pillowcases? Lavender helps to relax and supports deeper sleep. I often diffuse this in my own, or my children’s’ bedrooms at nights and we ALL sleep better. I’ve also put one small drop on the outside of my babies’s onesie to help relax her. It works like a gem! It can also be used to soothe skin issues such a sunburn.
  2. Lemon – I love using lemon in cleaning. A few drops down a stinky garbage disposal. A few drops diluted in water to freshen my counter tops. Lemon is a go-to in our house! I think it smells SO much better than any store bought cleaner. It refreshes and energizes as well!
  3. Immune Boom (Kids Safe)/ Immune Aid – This is probably one of my favorite oils. It supports healthy immune systems and I have it diffusing ALL WINTER LONG or any time I think  my kids might be coming down with something or have been exposed to illness. I have no science to prove my belief in this oil, but what I can say is that my children have been CONSIDERABLY, and noticeably less ill since and when I have use this oil.
  4. Germ Destroyer – I love this one combined WITH Immune Boom/Immune Aid. I keep it in a roller ball and in my purse at all times especially during sick season. IT’s also wonderful to make a hand sanitizer with a drop or two in it! It helps protect yourself and your kids from all the nasty viruses and illnesses they are always seeming to pick up! (STOP licking the shopping carts kiddo! 😉 )
  5. Sniffer Stopper (Kid Safe)/Resper-Aid – If you have littles, it seems like they are OFTEN having respiratory issues. Snotty noses. Coughs. It’s all a part of being a little kid; however, this oil can help SO much. The Respir-Aid I have used often on myself when I catch the same colds. It’s great to use in a diffuser OR I also put it on my kids’ feet with socks over at night.
  6. Relax Synergy – A synergy oil is actually combination of a few oils. I adore this Relax Synergy oil for myself. It provides emotional support – which I can never get enough of. Really though, as a mom of 5 young children, I often find myself a little overworked, stressed and anxious. I’ll put some of this on my inner wrist and breathe deeply. Sounds crazy maybe, but IT HELPS! It’s grounding! Our bodies respond to these scents!
  7. Tea Tree Oil – Tea Tree oil is another widely known and used oil. Don’t be surprised if you find it listed in the ingredient list of your shampoo or even face wash. It’s great for skin issues such as teen acne. It’s also great to use in refreshing the air.
  8. Peppermint – This was a lifesaver during my pregnancies. I suffered from HORRIBLE nausea which resulted in constant vomiting. Although this oil didn’t STOP my nausea, when I would sniff it, I often found my vomiting curbed. It is also FANTASTIC for headaches. Apply a little (diluted, as it can sting your skin) to your temples or behind your ears, and find relief! I know a lot of migraine sufferers that are finding some relief using peppermint.
  9. Go Go Go – I have one child who REALLY struggles with mornings. This is an issue considering he needs to be OUT the door by 7:30 each morning. This oil is energizing. Sometimes, I’ll start diffusing it his room an hour before he has to wake up, or massage a little on his feet, and I find he responds much better than without it.  The citrus scent assists in the energy level. I’ve also seen people put a couple drops in their morning bath to give them an extra boost.

Let’s also talk accessories.

There are a few things that I feel have really made this whole “oil business” a lot easier.

  1. Fractionated Coconut Oil – This is my favorite barrier oil. You use it to dilute oils that might otherwise be harsh to the skin.
  2. Rollerballs – I love these for convenience. Each oil which needs to be diluted states so on the bottle. You can combine a barrier oil with an essential oil and have these roller balls ready to go at any time.  Don’t want to make your own? Plant Therapy also offers PRE MADE  and PRE diluted roller balls HERE or Kids Safe HERE.
  3. Diffuser – This is a MUST HAVE. Put water and a few drops of whatever oils your heart desires, and diffuse all day and night! I have one in every room of my house. You can buy some cheaper diffusers on Amazon. I will warn you, some work awesome…for awhile, but many aren’t built to handle the pure essential oils. I find they build up residue and often don’t last AS long, but again, they are a bit cheaper and they DO work. I own a few. Another note is many of the less expensive ones are smaller. These are great for small rooms, but if you want to fill a larger area, go with one of these.
  4. Carrying case – I actually just recently purchased this on Amazon. I love this carrier because it keeps me organized, and makes it easier to take my oils along with me. It holds 30 oil bottles.
  5. Essential Oil Book – If you’re really interested in supporting your health with oils, I recommend this book. IT’s definitely more in depth, but will help you know what oils to try for different ailments.

I hope that gives you a very basic crash course on oils. The best part is, if you want to try one or two, you can buy directly from the website, at a lower cost. No strings attached. Making it a simple and dare I even say, FUN process. You can see what works for you and your family.  Let me know if you have any questions!
